Toilet paper running thin in New Jersey capital

Toilet paper supplies in Trenton, the capital of the US state of New Jersey, may run out by week’s end following their city council’s dispute over budgets.

The council has declined to sign a contract for paper products worth $42,573 after falling out over a $4,000 charge for paper cups.

Lauren Ira, a spokeswoman for Mayor Tony Mack, said that while the money has been made available to purchase the tissue, the Council is unwilling to sign the contract. The decision means that buildings such as Trenton City Hall may run out of toilet paper by Friday.

Former police officer George Muschal, now Trenton’s South Ward Councilman, spoke of the decision in an interview with Bloomsberg. He said the Council was not willing to bow to Mack’s order for paper cups, designed to carry hot beverages. He cited reports that the extreme nature of the order was down to fears some cups would be “stolen” for home use. He told the website: “We’re the checks and balances over the administration, and we’re not going to send out any blank checks.”

The rejected contract for paper products is part of a $182.6 million budget laid out by Mack in November. The budget has yet to be adopted due to arguments over its viability; if agreed, it will go into place on July 1, the start of the new fiscal year.

People in London yesterday were surprised to see hundreds of cyclists in varying degrees of nakedness riding through the city as the annual London Naked Bike Ride took place, one of many other rides as part of World Naked Bike Ride. The ride was intended to protest against oil dependency and celebrate cycling and the human body.

The ride took a route past many well known landmarks in London, starting from Hyde Park Corner then going via locations including Trafalgar Square, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, Covent Garden, Oxford Street, the United States embassy and returning to Hyde Park Corner, finishing at the Wellington Arch.

Described as a clothing-optional bike ride, participants ranged from being fully clothed to full nudity and were of a broad range of ages and ethnicities. Nudity is encouraged but is not mandatory.

Whilst public nudity in itself isn’t illegal in the United Kingdom, indecent exposure is an offence where the person exposes their genitals and “intends that someone will see them and be caused alarm or distress” and as such participants were unlikely to be at risk of arrest. Police officers riding bikes worked to facilitate the passage of the cyclists through the city whilst minimising disruption.

Yesterday, Catalonia-based football club FC Barcelona defeated Chinese Guangzhou Evergrande FC 3–0 at Nissan Stadium in Yokohama in a FIFA Club World Cup semifinal match hosted in Japan.

FIFA Club World Cup is a tournament in which football clubs winning in the respective continental confederation championships participate. Barcelona won the UEFA Champions League, and Guangzhou won the AFC Champions League. Barcelona’s Neymar, suffering from groin injury, was not included in the squad.

We lost 3–0, but it’s not much different to what has happened to other big clubs. At least we didn’t let in four like Real Madrid

Barça had greater ball possession. The match saw one yellow card, when Feng Xiaoting was yellow carded in the 16th minute, and at least two dozen fouls were committed in the match. The 2015 AFC Champions League winners Guangzhou prevented the European winners from scoring a goal for more than half an hour. In the 39th minute, Ivan Rakiti?’s shot on the target was saved by the Chinese goalkeeper, but Luis Suárez netted the goal providing Barcelona a 1–0 lead before half-time. The first half ended in 1–0.

In the second half, Suárez scored again in the 50th minute, assisted by Andrés Iniesta. A quarter of an hour later, Guangzhou player Huang Bowen fouled Munir El Haddadi in the penalty area, and Barcelona was awarded a penalty kick. Suárez, in the absence of Lionel Messi, took the penalty and completed a hat-trick.

After the match, Guangzhou coach Luiz Felipe Scolari praised the club’s performance. “We lost 3–0, but it’s not much different to what has happened to other big clubs. At least we didn’t let in four like Real Madrid.”

Barcelona, is now scheduled to play the final on December 20.

Amid publicity that arose from deaths and injuries due to dog attacks in the region, the Spotsylvania County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to impose tougher penalties on dog owners who let their dogs run free. After a public hearing Tuesday evening, the board voted for a new animal control ordinance. Now dog owners who are repeat offenders face a misdemeanor crime of $2,500 or up to a year in jail.

Dogs that repeatedly chase cars and run free, or otherwise trespass on property, could be euthanized if so ordered by a judge. A dog that is “roaming, running or self-hunting off the property or premises of its owner or custodian and not under the immediate control of the owner or custodian or his agent,” meets the county’s legal definition of a dog running at large.

The mauling death of an elderly woman by 3 Pit Bulls in her front yard sparked a public debate on animal control. At the hearing, State Senator Edward Houke said he would raise dog law issues in the January meeting of the Virginia General Assembly. According to The Free Lance Star, Houke said, “It’s pretty obvious to me that the state law needs to be changed, but saying that and it happening, is two completely different phenomena. If there’s one thing you learn quickly it’s that you don’t bring dog bills to the Virginia General Assembly.”

The Sullivan daughters, who lost their mother in the mauling attack, circulated petitions in the county and also attended the hearing. Board chairman Robert Hagan noted the Sullivan family presence and thanked them for their efforts to prevent more tragedies.

Great Fast Weight Lifting Routines

Here are some basic routines that I find can really push your muscles and your stamina. I’ve been lifting weights for a number of years, so I’ve done a lot of experimenting over that time. These workouts can be especially useful if you are limited in how long you can work out.

The first workout I like to call simply “total muscle failure”. Let’s face it we don’t have a lot of time today, and people are getting fatter and fatter all the time. If you are tired of having your spare tire filling up with air a little more each day, then it’s time to do something about it with what little time you have to spare. Assuming you have a gym membership or your own equipment, you should first write down on a piece of paper the number of exercises you think that you have time for. If you only have is 30 minutes, then you probably can get at least the three major body parts done in one workout. You can then spend a couple of days recuperating, since I’m assuming you don’t have a lot of time anyway. Even if all you have is thirty minutes to spare a week this will make a difference in your strength and muscle growth. But let me say though, it would be a lot better if you could lift at least three times a week and fit in cardio exercises the rest of the week, but we have to work with what we have. Ok, for the time crunched guy or girl let’s take the bench press first. Warm up for five minutes or so on a elliptical trainer or other cardio machine. Then do one or two easy warm-up sets. You have to know your own body. Take the time you need to warm-up your muscles and get the blood flowing. You don’t need an injury. Once you’ve got warmed up, then with a light amount of weight do eight reps on the bench press. Then add say another 10 to 20 pounds depending on your strength level. Do another 8 reps. Add more weight again. You should be able to increase the weight 3-7 times. Once you can no longer accomplish more than 4-6 reps, stop. Then go back down 10-20 pounds this time doing as many reps as you can. Keep taking the weight off and keep doing the sets until you get back down to where you started. If you have a partner this will work even better. You can have them help change the weight out. Remember you don’t have time for rest. You just keep going. By the time your done you should feel extremely pumped up. Depending on your physical conditioning, you may be very sore the next day.

Now that shouldn’t have taken very long at all, maybe 10 minutes. Now go and do a similar routine with a leg exercise like squats or whatever your favorite may be. Now that your legs are sore, then let’s do some lat pull downs using the same method. It’s up to you to push yourself, and be honest with yourself. Do it until you can’t do it anymore. Please remember I’m not a doctor. This type of routine is what I’ve used to get through a workout quickly and still push my body to it’s limit. As Clint Eastwood once said “A man’s got to know his limitations”. So if you have any doubts, better be safe and work your way up, and maybe see a doctor for a checkup to see where you are physically.

The next routine is quick, but you need a little more time. This one is more for the experienced body builder. An hour would be just about perfect. It’s something I picked up reading about a type of workout Sylvester Stallone does, and since I’m a huge Rocky fan I had to try it. I don’t follow Stallone’s workout completely to the letter because I love to mix up my workouts every chance I get. The basic principle is this, in one workout you will touch on all of the major muscle groups both push and pull exercises. I usually like to get the heavy exercises out of the way first like bench or squats. For bench you would do whatever weight you can successfully do for 20 reps, then when your ready for the next set, do whatever heavier weight that allows you to barely lift 6-8 reps. Do only two sets for each body part. Again I think it’s a great idea to plan out which exercises you want to get done in your workout ahead of time, but in this workout you should have done back, legs, chest, stomach, and arms. Be warned this workout is great for pushing your endurance, but switching out from push and pull sets like this can make you sick. You could even pass out if you push yourself too hard. Vomiting is not uncommon. So be careful before you consider this routine. Don’t go too far over an hour.

Now there is no substitute for taking your time and building up your training level over time, but if your reasonably in shape and have to work out in a hurry these workout strategies will help you till you get more time. Even if you are out of shape you should be able to do the first workout plan by decreasing the amount of weight you add to your sets and giving yourself some time to rest. But here’s the thing, if you are holding back because you’re lazy, and not for health reasons, then you’re just cheating yourself.

You are the one that has to look at yourself in the mirror every morning. If you are not exercising now, then start somewhere. Just do it.

On Friday, the Los Angeles Police Department arrested and charged a woman with murder, after she reportedly stabbed her ten-year-old daughter to death at the Air Force base Fort MacArthur residential facility in San Pedro, California. The girl’s father is a former member of the Navy.

The 49-year-old mother, Bong Sook Chavez, allegedly slit her daughter’s wrists and neck. Chavez slit her own wrists after attacking her daughter. In a statement issued on Monday, investigators say Chavez likely stabbed her daughter while she was asleep in bed.

Deputy Chief Pat Gannon told the Los Angeles Times Chavez has a history of mental health problems. According to Gannon, “The father was able to get the weapon away from her.” The father awoke at around 2:30 a.m. local time to find Chavez attacking her daughter.

The daughter, Quesi Chavez, later died at the University of Southern California’s Medical Center as a result of her wounds. As of Monday, the mother remained in the hospital in stable condition, but was scheduled to appear in court yesterday.
