A Guide to Healthcare Insurance Software

by

Shaun Mike

The basic purpose of a health insurance software is to make insurance shopping a pleasurable and easier experience for the customers. For the agents and health insurance professionals, it should help them serve their clients better and faster.

The basic functions of health insurance software are:

-Simplify insurance claims

-Frees up resources that are then used for serving the clients better

-Develop new products and solutions

There are various insurance softwares that cater to varied insurance needs such as basic record keeping, plan comparisons, claims processing, etc.

All health insurance software, though, have the following basic features:

-They speed up the claim process by reducing the paperwork

-Computerized records ensure that medical billing and insurance errors are almost nil

-Productivity and efficiency is improved that leads to increased customer satisfaction

Some of the basic softwares that an insurance company should incorporate in its web portal are:

1.Quote Engine: A quote engine will help a potential customer to find out all the health plans of the insurance company that are in accordance with the needs of the customer. A quote engine provides the insurance company an opportunity to showcase their products and services.

2.Comparison tool: Quote comparison is one the basic step before a customer decides on a plan. A comparison tool is a good way to advertise that if they shop from that particular portal, they will get the best value for money.

3.A basic record maintaining software that stores the administrative data of every client of the insurance company and every application that the company receives.

4.An Electronic Health Record (EHR) software that maintains the medical history of every client and which can be used as reference when deciding claims

It is not just about accessing the software, but a health insurance company should have careful considerations in mind before its decides to go in for any software on its internet platform.

Make sure that the insurance software is HIPAA compliant. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act sets certain regulations and all insurance softwares should be HIPAA compatible.

With the new Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act getting enforced, the new softwares also have to be in accordance with the new federal reforms.

It should be easy to update the healthcare insurance software according to the latest premium rates and insurance regulations.

Healthcare insurance softwares are an important tool for insurance professionals to serve their clients efficiently. They help a great deal in knowing and purchasing of health plans and faster processing of applications and claims making the lives of consumers, brokers and insurance companies easier.

While this wasn’t Interview with the Vampire, getting a live interview with Jimmy Wales of the Wikimedia Foundation is requiring more work and planning than ever. Four contributors to four different Wikinews language editions (with Swedish, Netherlands, and Polish) arranged to interview “Jimbo” in the Wikinews IRC channel, squeezed in before interviews with a periodical and a cable news source.

There are a lot of insurance companies who will promote their service in a way that tells you they will save you money. However many of these use this as bait to lure you so that you become customers, and start making them more money. When it comes the time to file a claim, there is a host of paperwork that needs to be filled out, red tape to try to muddle through, and a host of other requirements that simply make it far too difficult to actually get the payout.

Often times the insurance company simply will not pay out as much as they should, and will only fork over a nominal fee that doesn’t even come close to covering the damages that they should be covering. Here is what to do if you are forced to dispute your car insurance claim:

1. Contract an independent appraisal company or agent to come and give your car an evaluation. Of course using the independent appraiser means that the evaluation is not influenced by any insurance company, providing you with an honest evaluation.

2. When the appraisal has been completed, get the appraiser to furnish a copy of the report to yourself and the insurance company.

3. To avoid the officialdom of arbitration, it’s much better if you are able to mediate the entire dispute. By hiring any mediator to go over the appraisal report, you can learn the most beneficial and simplest way in which to settle your claim dispute. This will be in the form of unofficial advice detailing how best to finalise the case. The benefit to you in using a mediator is that the information you are given is purely unofficial, which means you don’t have to follow it if you don’t want to.

4. If mediation is unsuccessful, arbitration is the next step to take. In this case an attorney would deal with the dispute, meaning that would have to hand over any form of evidence you have acquired, to your attorney. You may need to find witnesses, and you will also need to present the report of the independent appraiser. In some ways the downside, but often the better outcome, by using arbitration to settle your insurance claim, you will be legally bound by the decision of the arbitrator.

5. Often the insurance companies will simply refuse to pay out the adjusted insurance, even after the arbitrator has ruled that they need to do so. That is when you will need to take the insurance company to court and sue them to pay out the correct amount. As you would have the assessment from the mediator, the ruling by the arbitrator, most judges are going to award your entitlements. You need to make sure that you hire a great lawyer if you decide that you are going to take the insurance company to court. Your insurance company is going to have a sharp legal team working for them, whose only role is to get the insurers out of having to pay up.

Disputing any car insurance claim, is likely to be an expensive and time consuming process. You could have to contract a mediator, an arbitrator, and an attorney to take it to court. You will need to make sure that any amount you are likely to receive through the courts is going to cover all of your costs.

Engine troubles delay Airbus superjumbo tour

Saturday, November 5, 2005

The departure from France of the new Airbus A380 superjumbo airliner on a tour of Asia and Australia has been delayed, leading to a rearrangement of its public appearances. Citing “a precautionary measure”, Airbus announced that two of the Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines on the prototype airliner would be replaced before the tour commenced.

Singapore will remain the airliner’s first stop, where Singapore Airlines will display the aircraft they intend to launch into passenger-carrying service in November 2006. It is expected that the Airbus 380 will wear the livery of Singapore Airlines when it arrives on November 11, three days later than originally planned.

The massive airliner will then bypass the planned stop in Malaysia, and fly directly to Sydney, then Melbourne and Brisbane as part of the leadup to Qantas’ 85th birthday celebrations on November 16. Qantas plans to commence A380 operations starting in April 2007.

The Malaysia visit will be rescheduled for November 17, occurring during the return flight to France.

It is unclear whether the originally planned Australian tour dates can be kept, and sources indicate that the airliner’s first stop in Brisbane, on November 11, maybe eliminated in favour of a brief appearance on November 16.

British man fully “recovers” from HIV

Sunday, November 13, 2005

A 25 year old British man has been reported to have made a full recovery from the HIV virus . Andrew Stimpson did not take any drug treatments after being diagnosed with the virus in August 2002 and was found HIV negative in October 2003.

Stimpson’s two HIV tests were performed by the Chelsea and Westminster Healthcare NHS Trust. It has been reported that the hospital is standing by the validity of the two tests that have so far been performed. The hospital would like to perform additional tests that might reveal an explanation for the two contradictory test results. Tests used for diagnosis of HIV infection can produce false positive results. When this happens, additional testing is required in order to determine if there ever was an actual infection. Some news reports suggest that Stimpson may have had contact with someone known to be HIV-positive and that multiple HIV tests performed by a clinic all gave positive results for Stimpson before he was first tested by the Chelsea and Westminster hospital. However, Michael Hopkin of the British journal Nature, has reported that while Stimpson tested positive for antibodies to HIV in 2002, “tests done during more than two dozen visits in 2003 and 2004 proved negative for the antibodies”. This suggests that either HIV infection took an unusual course in Stimpson or the original test results indicating infection were a false positive.

Many similar cases have been reported in Africa, where the virus is widespread. Due to poor medical facilities all of these reports have been largely anecdotal—Mr Stimpson represents the first well documented case. However, until additional tests are performed it is impossible to know if the second test was a false negative. Dr. Andrew Grulich, who has a PhD in epidemiology and works at the National Centre in HIV Epidemiology and Clinical Research at the University of New South Wales has expressed doubt that Stimpson was cured of an HIV infection. In some infected patients, HIV levels can fall to undetectably low levels until their immune system is defeated and virus levels begin to rise.

This discovery may offer a promising new window into how the virus works and furthers hopes that one day a vaccine and/or cure will be found for the disease that is carried by around 35 million people worldwide.

Treks To Machu Picchu

Submitted by: Lorena Petsios

From all over the world, visitors come to Peru in order to walk the Inca trail which is undoubtedly the most famous hike in all of South America. The scenery and the ruins are the main attractions of this famous trail.

The trail starts from a point called Kilometer 88, and spans around forty three kilometers. In order to start the trip, you must cross the narrow Kusicancha Bridge and then walk towards the left side of the Eucalyptus forest. You can either camp at Llullucha or Wayllabamba.

The second day is relatively tougher since you must climb the Warmiwa usqa Pass (Dead Woman s pass) which is around four thousand and two hundred meters high. The third day is more interesting but it is also the longest. You get to see the remarkable ruins of Sayaqmarca and Runkuracay. Wi ayhuayna and Phuyupatamarca are the two sites available for camping. On the fourth and the final day, you can watch the sunrise over Machu Picchu from the Sun Gate. The rest of day can be spent sight-seeing the ancient city.

The Inca trail to Machu Picchu comprises of three interconnected trails. The longest of the three trails is Mollepata. It intersects with the classic route before is crosses the Dead Woman s Pass. The trail is situated in the Andes mountain range and passes through different kinds of environments. The trail passes through several Incan ruins ending at the Sun Gate. The other two routes are more than twelve thousand feet above sea level. Taking these routes can cause altitude sickness.

The Peruvian government is worried about erosion due to increasing number of visitors so it has limited the number of hikers. Guides-providing companies have also been severely limited. Only five hundred people which include guides and porters can commence hiking on the trail each day. Consequently, it is imperative that you book in advance. Moreover, the trail is closed every year in the month of February for cleaning purposes.

It normally takes around three to four days in order to complete the Inca Trail. It was built by the Incas in South America and covers almost twenty three thousand kilometers. The trail begins from Cuzco. At Wayllabamba, the trail traverses Mollepata at an altitude of nine thousand and eight hundred feet.

The trail to Machu Picchu spins west at Wayllabamba and ascends towards Warmiwa usca – Dead Woman’s Pass. After crossing this pass, the trail slides into Pacaymayu River drainage. The Incan tambo of Runkuraqay is situated one km along this trail at an altitude of twelve thousand three hundred feet. The trail ascends and the forest offers dramatic views of mountains. Here you can also see the valleys of Urubamba and Aobamba. A tiny spur of the trail goes towards Winay Wayna while the main trail leads to Intipata. From Winay Wayna, the route goes towards Machu Picchu. You can reach the Sun Gate or Intipunku from here. The final section of the trail consists of a short walk downward. Overall, the treks around Cusco and Machu Picchu are fun-filled and adventurous.

Swan in Fife, Scotland dies with H5N1 bird flu virus infection

Thursday, April 6, 2006

It has been confirmed that tests done on a dead Mute Swan found in the village of Cellardyke in Fife, Scotland has tested positive for the deadly strain of H5N1 Bird Flu virus. The swan is believed to have been native to Scotland.

Two other swans found in Richmond Park in Glasgow are being tested for the H5N1 virus. They are among at least 14 other dead birds and 12 more swans found in Glasgow, that are being tested for the H5N1 virus.

This is the United Kingdom‘s first confirmed case of the H5N1 virus and would make the U.K. the 14th country to report the virus.

“The risk to humans has not changed by the fact that we have found the virus in the U.K.. There is a better chance of a person winning the national lottery than catching bird flu in the U.K. today,” said Doctor Jim Robertson from the National Institutes for Biological Standards and Control in a press conference.

“We also have to work on the assumption that there is some spread among wild birds. There is no doubt we are getting closer to the day when moving birds indoors will be necessary,” said former President of the British Veterinary Association, Bob McCracken. “The situation is that the virus is there, and it will probably continue to circulate among the birds. It will spread through close contact, irrespective of species. There is one big question mark: Will the virus disappear from wild birds after a period of six months, or will it still be present after a period of six years?” added McCracken.

McCracken also said that the virus could turn up in more birds saying, “I would start from the assumption that a small pool of wild birds in the Fife area are infected and potentially passing it on to other birds” and that seagulls could pose a threat of passing on the virus because they have been known to peck at the bodies of other dead birds that were infected. “We have to assume that,” he said.

In a statement by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, released yesterday, the Scottish Executive confirmed that a “highly pathogenic H5 avian flu” virus was found in a sample taken from the dead swan.

The swan was discovered March 29, 2006 and has been confirmed as a domestic species and officials say that it may have caught the virus from another infected bird. Officials also report that the area where the swan has been found is being sealed off.

“In accordance with a recent EU decision the Scottish Executive is putting in place a protection zone of a minimum of three kilometres radius and a surveillance zone of 10 kilometers. Keepers of birds in the protection zone are being instructed to isolate their birds from wild birds, by taking them indoors where ever possible,” said the Scottish Executive in a statement.

Samples from the swan were sent to the European Union Bird Flu Laboratory at Weybridge.

“Bird keepers outside the protection zone should redouble their efforts to prepare for bringing their birds indoors if that becomes necessary. They must also review their biosecurity measures to ensure that all possible precautions have been taken,” said Charles Milne, Chief Veterinary Officer for Scotland yesterday in the statement.

An exercise named ‘Exercise Hawthorn’ was to prepare people for a possible pandemic was taking place yesterday and was halted just after the discovery of the dead swan. Officials were in the second phase of the exercise. Taking part in the exercises were the Ministry of Defence, the Association of Chief Police Officers, the Environment Agency and several other areas of the British government.

“I brought to an end the national avian influenza exercise to ensure that we can bring all our resources to bear on this situation. We are already in a high state of readiness and I have every confidence that officials north and south of the border will work together to manage this incident successfully,” said the United Kingdom’s Chief Veterinary Officer, Debby Reynolds.

However; today Reynolds stated “there is no reason for public health concern” and also stated that in order for Bird Flu to infect humans, it would require “extremely close contact with infected birds, particularly feces.”

According to the World Health Organization H5N1 has killed 109 people worldwide since 2003.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un oversees hypersonic missile test

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un oversees hypersonic missile test
Posted by Admin , No Comments

Friday, January 14, 2022

On January 12, North Korean state-run newspaper Rodong Sinmun reported a Tuesday hypersonic missile launch attended by leader Kim Jong-un and high-ranking politicians Jo Yong Won and Kim Yo-jong. This was the third missile North Korea (DPRK) launched this year. It flew for 1,000 kilometers (621 mi) before hitting sea, state media claimed.

“The Juche weapon representing the power of the DPRK” and of “superior maneuverability” was test-fired for “final verification of overall technical specifications”, according to state media. In an email sent to Al Jazeera, professor Leif-Eric Easley at Ewha University in Seoul, South Korea said “[the] so-called hypersonic weapon is not technologically ready”. South Korean military authorities at first downplayed the missile, but later said it showed “improvement”, the Yonhap News Agency reported.

Earlier this year, North Korea conducted two missile tests: one last Wednesday, and a second one on Monday, which were confirmed by both South Korea and the Japanese coast guard. The first launch was a winter resilience test, state media claimed. North Korea tested their first hypersonic missile, Hwasong-8, on September 28. Ankit Panda, a defence expert from Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, said last Wednesday’s missile was not a Hwasong-8, but a new model unveiled at an October weapons exhibition in Pyongyang, North Korea. After the September test, Panda called Hwasong-8 a “significant milestone” in comments to the BBC.

On Monday, the United Nations (UN) missions of Albania, France, the Republic of Ireland, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States jointly called for dialogue and denounced the first test. The US ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield called it “a significant threat to regional stability”. On Tuesday, South Korean president Moon Jae-in said the tests worry him ahead of the country’s coming presidential election scheduled for March.

Hypersonic missiles are faster and can evade radar detection longer than regular ballistic missiles, the BBC explained.

How To Use Empathetic Marketing In Your Social Media Strategy

4 Ways to Increase Social Media Reach and Engagement

If you’re like 44% of people worldwide, you’ve been spending more time on social media during the pandemic. Whether you’re catching up on the latest news on Twitter or chatting with family on Facebook, social media has allowed us to stay connected.

But as a small business owner, are you spending more time on social media being empathetic?

While sometimes confused with sympathy, which is feeling compassion for someone else, empathy means putting yourself in somebody else’s shoes.

By empathizing with your customers, you can better serve them.

Here’s the Merriam Webster definition of empathy: “the action of (or capacity for) understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another.”

It’s important to take an empathetic approach in all of your marketing materials, from your website copy to your social media strategy.

Because social media offers such a great way to interact with a large audience, you should be willing to put in the time and effort to ensure your communications are not only engaging, but empathetic to what people are going through.

***

READ: The Importance of Empathy-Based Marketing

As we move forward from COVID-19, empathy-based marketing isn’t just the right thing to do, your customers now expect it.

Many studies done during the pandemic are showing people want brands to be more empathetic and aware of the long-term impact it will have on their lives.

Hopefully, you communicated authentically and empathetically with your customers during this time, and you’re going to have to continue to do so! Here are 3 ways to use empathetic content marketing…

***

According to the Braze Brand Humanity Index research, around 65% of people were more loyal to brands they felt a human connection with.

So to help you get—and stay connected—with your customers, here are four ways a small business owner can build a social media presence with more empathetic content marketing.

1. Create an empathy map.

This can be a good first step to put you deeper into the mind of your customer. Originally a tool used in the design and agile development worlds, empathy mapping provides a deeper understanding of your customer. It’s usually split into four quadrants: says, thinks, does and feels.

 • With your target customer’s persona in the middle, you begin to brainstorm questions, like:
 • Why do you need my product?
 • How does using my product make you feel/think/do/say?
 • What are some stressors/fears in your life?
 • How does my product help you reach your goals?

Write out your customer’s thoughts the way you think he or she would express. Their needs, wants, desires, hopes, fears, goals and dreams will start to be more clear, and you’ll be able to build a social media presence using messaging that resonates with your followers.

2. Tap into your customers’ emotions.

I’m not talking about playing on their fears to sell your products, but rather, thinking about how your product makes them feel.

Here’s a way that a brand helped ease their smallest customers’ fears. Philips invented a miniature version of a CAT scanner called the ‘KittenScanner,’ which doctors use to educate kids about the MRI process and put them at ease. Children can try it out with toy animals, taking the focus off of their procedure and onto fun.

It was created back in 2004, but it still gets mentioned on social media, in videos and in health journals as a way to reduce the need for sedation. How could you position your brand in a helpful, stress-reducing way for your customers?

3. Use social listening to your advantage.

Social listening is all about monitoring your communication channels for brand and competitor mentions, and certain keywords and comments.

As you “listen” to your followers this way, you can gain valuable insights into what they like, don’t like, want and need from you. You may see a tweet on Twitter from a happy customer who loved your product. Or, you may see a comment from someone who wasn’t impressed with how long it took customer service to respond to a complaint.

With social listening, you not only get information on how your small business is performing, you also get the opportunity to provide better customer service and tweak a process or product that isn’t working.

4. Inspire customers to take action.

Showing your customers you believe in them is an ideal way to increase social media reach and engagement. Think about the product or service you offer to your customers. How could you get them to use it to add value to their life and/or entertain them?

For example, Home Depot encouraged their customers to grow a living salad bowl with an infographic they shared on social channels. While there is minimal branding on this infographic, it still reinforces Home Depot’s marketing strategy of the things that are possible with their products.

No matter how you’re using empathy-based marketing to increase social media reach and engagement, remember your branding. For example, if your brand voice is “fun, upbeat and confident,” using humour might be the best way to engage your audience.

If it’s “down-to-earth, considerate and approachable,” a more heartfelt, emotional message could be the way to most effectively speak to your customers.

And don’t forget to create a social media marketing plan to save time and money!

In my AMPLiFY! Business Academy, we’ve been exploring the Empathy-based marketing model in-depth.
