Michelle Kwan withdraws from Olympics

Michelle Kwan, a figure skater on the United States Olympic team, has pulled out of the Olympic Games because of a groin injury. According to a newsbreak bulletin on NBC, she injured her right hip abductor muscle in a fall during practice on Saturday. The muscle pain continued to worsen and at 2:45am she went to the team doctor. The team doctor determined this was a serious injury and Michelle made the decision to pull out of the Olympics and give the alternate Emily Hughes the chance to skate.
Emily Hughes was contacted at 8:45pm Eastern time that she would be needed at the Games. She is scheduled to fly to Italy on Sunday. Emily Hughes is the younger sister of Olympic medalist Sarah Hughes.

The architectural design of the buildings is not the only subject to admiration but the strength of the building materials too.

Concrete is not a regular building material but very powerful indeed. Its implementation takes place in many different kinds of building projects. One of its uses is in the asphalt concreting. Actually the asphalt is the dark grey or black surface mostly bedded on roads and commercial areas. It is used in domestic undertakings as pathways or driveways and is much practiced as well. The reason is seen in its toughness and durability. Since a little failure in knowledge can produce destroyable consequences regarding the matter so be aware that this kind of building undertaking as foundations is a serious thing. Some will advise you to evaluate the type of the soil first on which the foundations would be made and alone to start the process of foundations. However the professionals have the needed knowledge so it would be advisable to ask for their professional help and opinion when making the foundations especially if its purpose would be to stand some heavy objects as fleet on that area. Queen Elizabeth II arrives in Australia for 15th visit

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip arrived in Australia yesterday for a five-day tour which includes the opening of the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, the Queen’s 15th visit of her reign and her first since 2002.
Their tour began when they landed at Fairburn Air Force Base in Canberra where they received a state welcome, attended by Prime Minister John Howard, Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery and several hundred well-wishers. The couple accepted flowers and chatted with the crowd for a few minutes before being driven off in a black Rolls Royce.
The Queen and Prince Philip spent last night at Government House before beginning official duties in Sydney today. In Sydney, they will officially open the new colonnade of Sydney Opera House and receive a 21 gun salute.
Republican campaigners have used the occasion as an opportunity to reopen the republican debate.
“While the queen is held in great affection by the Australian people, many Australians recognize that it is no longer sensible for us to have a citizen of another country, who visits Australia only occasionally, as our head of state,” said Allison Henry, national director of the Australian Republican Movement.
